Invitations from the AEE Board of Directors and Leaders

An Invitation to All AEE Conference Attendees

Dr. Christian M. Itin, MSW, President of the AEE Board of Directors

On behalf of the Board of Directors I hope we will see you at the conference in Vegas. It is not too late to make arrangements to attend. Your attendance helps to ensure that AEE will have the intellectual heft, physical vitality and financial strength to continue our contribution to making the world just a bit more just and compassionate.

The AEE Board of Directors will have significant announcements at the "Annual General Membership Meeting" (AGM). This is a great opportunity to hear from the AEE CEO and Board of Directors on the state of the association's finances, accomplishments and future directions. We strongly encourage everyone to attend (Saturday, 4:45 p.m. Royale Pavillion 3).

Please Come Say Hello to the AEE CEO!

Paul Limoges, AEE CEO

I am looking forward to the conference and to see everyone there. I would like to extend an invitation to meet with you during the conference. There is a time slot called “Meet the President and CEO” that will be happening in the Board Suite on Friday from 1:30 to 3:00. Check at the registration table for the room location.

The Awards Ceremony is Fun and Meaningful - Please join us!

Tom Lindblade, AEE Board of Directors, President and Safety Chair, Illinois Paddling Council leadershipcelebration

I would like to invite everyone to  attend the Awards and Recognition Ceremony on Friday evening at the conference. Come celebrate some of the best that our field has to offer.  We have a wonderful group of recipients this year.  Come, have dessert and recognize our outstanding colleagues. We even have a brand new "Distinguished Researcher" award - new this year!

Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group (TAPG)

Maurie Lung, Chair

TAPG is very excited about this year's preconference filled with both knowledge and skills to learn, and of course an urban adventure in Vegas not to be missed! Be sure to check the notice board for our evening happenings throughout the conference AND attend the business meeting to share your voice or to hear more information about our strategic plan, volunteer opportunities, best practices, updates and more.

International Affiliation Group

Patrick Maher, Chair

INTLJoin us for the International Affiliation Group meeting on Friday, November 5th, 5:00-6:30 pm. We will be meeting in the Skybox 205 room at the Riviera.

Like last year in Canada, we plan to have an International Affiliation Group basket in the auction. Each year at the Conference the regions have a friendly competition to raise money for the Association.  We do this by producing a basket (usually a backpack or useful bag of some sort) full of things that represent our region, or in our case, regions outside of North America. The basket is raffled off and some lucky conference attendee gets to take home the loot! We're in search of all types of things that represent the international flavour of AEE. If you can help by contributing something to this, please contact me (maherp@unbc.ca). I look forward to seeing you in Vegas!

CORE
corelogofinal3

What an exciting time! The Council on Research and Evaluation is looking forward to seeing you at the Annual International AEE Conference in Las Vegas! This year we have a great deal to report. In 2010 CORE launched the White Papers Project and will unveil several “state of knowledge” papers at the conference. CORE also supported the development of the new Distinguished Researcher Award, increased our collaboration with government funding agencies, and identified many worthy goals for 2011! Read more.

Conference Tip From Member

From Kate Cassidy, Co-Chair, AEE Canadian Group, Brock University

Stay in Touch
After the conference email the people you met. Email the good presenters and tell them how much you enjoyed their presentation. If you promised to send someone something, do it. You go to a conference to meet people — so now keep in touch!

Pass it On
After the conference give yourself a week at the most, and then get ready to open your notebook. Organize and share what you learned. Tell people you went. Going to conferences shows your passion and interest in experiential education – pass it on!

Submit a Workshop Proposal
After seeing some of the presentations did you think, “I could do that”? Well, get on it! Online workshop proposal sites for most regional conferences and REAP have been posted. What do you need to do or have done to present next year? If you’ve never presented at a conference before, check the website or contact AEE and tell them you are interested in presenting. It’s never too early to start getting ready for next year. You never know what might happen!
