"The AEE Board of Directors voted to integrate this award and The Michael Stratton Practitioner Award in 2011 in recognition of the low number of nominations, the reality that all teachers are practitioners and to restore the Michael Stratton Practitioner award as the highest recognition the association bestows."

Recognized an individual who demonstrated an active passion for experiential education principles and theories in teaching practice. This teacher practiced innovative, experiential education methodologies in a public or private school system.
