Letter from the chair:
As I have chaired the affiliation group, and guided its direction, since the conference in St. Paul, MN in 2006 one thing I’d like to discuss in Las Vegas is clearer, better defined, governance of the group - essentially I would like to get a few more people actively involved. I’m happy to stay involved on the executive and even as chair, but would hope to make sure the group will be sustainable when I choose to move on. Especially useful would be anyone who would like to sit in on AEE's Council for Regional Chairs and Group Leadership Council on behalf of the International Affiliation Group – 1 phone call per month or quarter.
We have also had a number of project ideas to proceed with, which I’d hope with wider governance involvement we can truly get moving. These projects include creating a group newsletter, creating a Facebook site, keeping a more up-to-date web presence, creating a directory of program and members in various regions of the world, writing more international pieces for AEE publications such as the Journal of Experiential Education and Horizons, and creating better linkages to other international experiential education groups or conferences. If any of these ideas interest you in particular, please let me know. We have made great progress in updating our webpage and posting notices to other groups and conferences, but again if you have postings please pass them along and I will get them up on the webpage.
