This August, join friends new and old in Re-Emerging Together at the 8th Adventure Therapy Best Practices Conference in Park City, Utah! Nestled among the Wasatch Mountains at Canyons Resort, the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) welcomes researchers, practitioners, and innovators from across the adventure therapy field for three days of learning, growth, and connection. This year’s conference will take place from August 23-25, 2021, directly prior to Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Council's Wilderness Therapy Symposium. We look forward to building bridges between our organizations this summer and going forward.

Since 2005, the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group (TAPG), the professional group for AEE members working in the fields of health, mental health, corrections, education, and other areas of human service, has hosted the Best Practices conference as a way to deepen, broaden, and professional the practice of adventure therapy, while also explore contemporary issues that arise as it evolves. At this year’s conference, each presenter will highlight social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion as we seek to promote accessible, relevant AT programming and mitigate the impacts of systemic inequality.

With these themes in mind, we invite individuals across cultural and professional backgrounds to join us this summer. Workshop programming will prioritize clinical skill building, practical application, and experiential methods and be relevant to not only the seasoned AT practitioner, but also students, guides, field staff, traditional therapists, program directors, administrators, or anyone with an interest in using experiential methods to promote growth and healing. For licensed clinicians, workshops will also be organized around core training areas for the Clinical Certified Adventure Therapist credential.
