AEE Awards & Recognitions

Each year, our AEE community lifts up and celebrates some of the amazing people and organizations who are doing inspiring work to further Experiential Education.
-
Traditionally, our Annual International Conference serves as the time and place to honor those individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond in their work in the field. As we all know, 2020 has brought many changes and we have all had to find ways to adapt and grow.
-
In 2020, we feel as though the traditional individuality of our awards could not possibly do justice to the work that everyone has done in a shared capacity. We feel that everyone in the community deserves an award for adapting, facing challenges, and growing in this uncertain time. We therefore decided to forgo our traditional awards for something more organic. We wanted to celebrate the shared accomplishments, successes and the processes of failing forward.
-
In 2020, we utilized the Trailblazer Forum within our 2020 International Conference Platform to honor all who have made a difference this year in their work, organization, school, or community. The Trailblazer Forum was designed as a space to receive accolades, appreciations, messages of thanks, and to lift up one another in these very different times.

There are many outstanding, often unsung, experiential practitioners whose high standards, commitment and contributions have inspired others to dream and to act. AEE Awards recognize individuals and organizations for their contributions to the theory of experiential education and their service to AEE.
As conceived by AEE's Board of Directors, the awards process is driven by AEE members.
