Professional Bio

Sahala Harahap brings 26 years of experience in both profit and non-profit sectors, focusing on engagement through experiential methods within systems change contexts. He has collaborated with over 100 organizations across public, private, and social sectors. Sahala is a Board of Trustee member at Gemala Ananda Elementary School, a small private institution founded on the principle of school-parent-community partnership alongside his wife. He also volunteers in various capacities, including as a member of the Expert Panel at Bina Antarbudaya - The Indonesian Foundation for Intercultural Learning; a member of the Executive Committee of Indonesian Overseas Alumni, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing teacher quality in remote Indonesian schools; a Chair of the International Association of Facilitators Indonesia Chapter, and a Council Member of Association of Experiential Education APAC region.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Professional Degree as a Psychologist, which qualifies him to conduct psychological assessments, along with a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management. Sahala is part of the core facilitation team in Indonesia for the LeadershipPLENTY module on implementing the Cornerstone Program for Community Leadership, an initiative by Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Compassionate Systems Certified Master Practitioners – a framework for systems change by the Center for Systems Awareness at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Systems Awareness Lab. In 2016, he was honored with the Dharma Karya Utama Award by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, the highest commendation an individual can receive from the Minister.
