Professional Bio

Lorilei is an educator by nature and nurture. She has found that she can't not teach. Her education includes a BA in History and CRISS certification for reading comprehension. Her experience includes: forty plus years teaching and leading in Girl Scouts, serving at the troop, service unit, and council levels to lead girls across all ages/ levels and the train other adults; twenty-one years parenting and homeschooling autistic and dyslexic children with extensive attention to brain-based learning (a concerned parent does better research than the FBI); twelve years as a classroom educator across grades, disciplines, geography, and demographics in public, private, parochial, and Montessori schools; twelve years as an American Red Cross Aquatics instructor for lifeguards and swim instructors; eleven years of neurodiversity advocacy in international conferences to professional educators; ten years as Aquatics Supervisor and Outdoor Educator including riflery and canoeing certifications; twelve thousand plus hours of challenge course facilitation across a myriad of demographics; nine years leading day camps specializing in fandom-themed courses. Lorilei has a thorough experiential education in teaching and facilitating all kinds of learners at all kinds of ages in all kinds of environments about all kinds of content. She served as secretary and chair for the AEE Mid-Atlantic region, and is currently a Leadership Committee member for the AEE Southeast Region.
