Learn about the First Nations of Wisconsin through this award-winning, place-based walking tour that provides an introduction to the 12,000 years of human history along the shores of Waaksikhomik (Lake Mendota). On this tour, participants will visit UW-Madison campus buildings, historical markers, and archaeological sites to discuss historic—and contemporary—relationships with First Nations and the transformation of Teejop (Four Lakes) into Madison.
The First Nations Cultural Landscape Tour Providers are a community of students, faculty, and staff supported by the Office of the Provost in partnership with Campus and Visitor Relations.
Take a tour of Lake Mendota to Picnic Point with our knowledgeable Outdoor UW staff. Learn more about the Lake, UW Madison history, and the wildlife in between.
Beach ashore Picnic Point for a fire and s’mores to fuel up for an exciting paddle back to the Terrace and enjoy a pitcher.
