Participants will explore therapeutic adventure programming concepts and strategies to design active and engaging therapeutic group interventions. This workshop is designed for professionals across various fields—including teachers and social workers, clinicians and residential staff, —who are looking to enhance their group programming with intentional adventure experiences that promote personal growth, resilience, and healing. Gain insights into selecting appropriate adventure activities for in school/in program groups. Learn how to match activities with therapeutic goals and participant abilities. Discuss facilitation skills to effectively lead groups in classroom/school-based settings. Gain strategies for fostering a supportive environment, initiating meaningful discussions, and processing experiences that arise during activities. Learn techniques for using metaphor and reflection to enhance the therapeutic potential of adventure experience.

About the Series: The Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group developed the annual webinar series to provide more opportunities for individuals interested in receiving additional training and education specific to working in adventure therapy and therapeutic adventure settings in a more accessible format. Each of these webinars offer two hours of training in the various core competencies required for certification as a Certified Clinical Adventure Therapist or a Certified Therapeutic Adventure Specialist.
