Learn more about our new website, member tiers, and member experience!

Hello Community! Sherry, Anna, & Steve here!

The short: AEE has just updated our Membership Tiers and switched our Association Management System (AMS). This switch will make for a more user-friendly online membership experience and a more modern website design.

Why we made the switch to a new AMS (and what that means): Since 2012, AEE has used a system that hosts our website, membership data, event registration forms, content, resources, financials, and everything in between. While we have made significant updates over the last two years, we have found that the system is quite difficult to work with on both the administrator and the user side. Feedback from members is that renewals are difficult, updating your profile is time consuming, and navigating is not intuitive. Therefore, we have made the decision to switch to a new system entirely. Check out the results of our Membership survey here: https://issuu.com/associationforee/docs/aee_2021_member_survey

We also updated our Membership Tiers.

What we've found over the last few months: AEE is here to serve you, our Members, and we feel that it is important to be transparent about everything happening at AEE. While our membership numbers are increasing, our membership dues, which account for 1/3 of the overall AEE Budget, are decreasing.

The last time we raised member pricing and switched tiers was in 2018. We reduced the lowest level to $60. Over the course of the last 3 years, we have found almost all of our new members (and many of our renewing members) have come in at the $60 tier. It is not fiscally sustainable for the organization.

Our hope is that with the new tiers, we can:

  • Simplify the experience of becoming an AEE Member and renewing an AEE Membership

  • Increase and more intentionally define the value of Membership

  • Grow our membership while maintaining financial security

  • Be equitable and accessible to as many people as possible

So, what’s the new Member Tier structure and pricing?

We are working to make our organization more equitable, inclusive and accessible. Therefore, all members will receive the same benefits. And we will begin providing scholarships for Membership in the organization, not just for the conference.
