Description:

The Behavioral First Responder is the premier certification training course for outdoor and experiential educators focusing on mental and behavioral health promotion. Through activities, case studies, and scenarios, our patented curriculum will focus on a holistic approach to help you gain awareness, adopt preventative practices, build skills, and apply techniques to prevent, manage, and mitigate behavioral and mental health concerns in Experiential Education settings. Through enhanced education, we seek to expand the EE field's capabilities to accommodate the ever-evolving needs of our participants and capitalize on our opportunity to promote mental and behavioral wellness.

Participants will:

  • Develop a foundational understanding of human behavior, mental health, and positive intervention techniques.
  • Construct new practices for managing and mitigating behavioral incidents when they occur in our programs.
  • Demonstrate behavioral intervention techniques developed by Alpenglow for the field of Experiential Education.
  • Design intervention strategies and program techniques for the promotion of long-term behavioral and mental health in students, campers, and participants.
  • Develop a system and method for tracking behavioral issues within the individual's organization or company
  • Generate curriculum for internal staff training to mitigate and manage behavioral and mental health episodes.
