Join this interactive and engaging session and gain practical techniques to take advantage of teachable moments throughout experiences. Bring learning to life with active participant-centered reflection. Enliven the traditional sharing circle with dynamic brain-based methods including movement, metaphor, art, interactive dialogue, and self-reflection to increase emotional connection, relevancy, and depth of understanding. Explore tangible ways to increase meaningful engagement, dialogue, voice, and ownership of learning. Take away inspiration, new perspectives, and practical tools for weaving meaningful reflection into every part of academic, group development, and therapeutic programming. Create lasting lessons and help participants of all ages become lifelong reflective learners.


Jen Stanchfield inspires educators and facilitators worldwide with her engaging, informative and practical workshops in which she incorporates the art of facilitation with neuroscience research. During three decades as an experiential educator, she has served as a teacher, a mental health clinician, and in professional development/teambuilding. She is author of Tips and Tools for The Art of Experiential Group Facilitation, and Inspired Educator, Inspired Learner.
Deidra Goodwin is nearing 10 years as an experiential educator in recreation and environmental education settings and is now working on the puzzle of bringing more intentional experiential learning into the conservation corps world. Deidra currently works for American Conservation Experience as the National Park Service Academy coordinator and is also a graduate student in Western Carolina University's Experiential and Outdoor Education program.
